We’re still grinning like a Cheshire cat over the incredible support we received for Pets on Wheels Month 2021 in October! Thanks to all of you, Pets on Wheels set a fundraising record with $23,265 in donations – resources that will go a long way toward helping our pets help more people.
Your generosity has helped us touch countless lives during the almost 40 years since Pets on Wheels was founded. Our friendly therapy pet visits have such a significant impact on the recipients, and this letter we received with a recent donation gets right to the heart of it:
“Thank you so much for visiting with Marge. Marge really wants a dog but is not able to care for one. She lost her husband in February and just loves to see Ariel and the other dogs. It is such a nice gift you offer and it really means a lot.”
Thanks to you, Ariel and her handler can visit with Marge and all of the people who benefit from our pets’ love. Please know that we appreciate you!

Petco Love Foundation Names Pets on Wheels one of their Helping Heroes
Pets on Wheels is honored to be the recipient of a $7,500 grant investment from Petco Love (formerly the PetCo Foundation) in support of our work. Since 2012, Petco Love has invested more than $16 million to bolster the life changing work of Helping Heroes. Helping Heroes focuses on those organizations that take pets from shelters and transform them into heroes to assist people in need, primarily our nation’s veterans. Pets on Wheels is proud to partner with the Columbia, MD, Petco for our Howard County area temperament screenings, and we thank everyone in the Columbia store for their incredible support.
“Petco Love is proud to support Pets on Wheels as one of nearly 100 organizations receiving a Helping Heroes grant this year,” said Petco Love President Susanne Kogut. “Petco Love focuses on supporting organizations that find pets in animal shelters and train them to become pet heroes who improve the lives of others, highlighting the true potential of shelter pets and the impact they bring to their communities.”
This investment is the most significant grant Pets on Wheels has received to date. We are incredibly grateful for this statement of support for our mission of sharing love to lick stress and loneliness.
