Cathy Mazzotta Named Pets on Wheels Program Director ⭐
We are thrilled to share that Cathy Mazzotta has stepped into the role of Program Director for Pets on Wheels.
Cathy brings decades of experience, compassion, and commitment to our organization. Cathy is already a familiar face at Pets on Wheels. From volunteer handler to regional coordinator and now Program Director, Cathy’s journey reflects a lifelong commitment to animals, volunteerism, and the healing connection pets bring to people.
We asked Cathy to share a little about herself and her vision for the future of Pets on Wheels.
When did you first get involved with Pets on Wheels?
I first became involved in the early 1980s with my dog Mobie. Although life eventually took me in other directions for a time, my passion for pet therapy never left. After retiring in 2013, I returned with my dog Ivy and have continued serving ever since.
What have been some of your proudest accomplishments with Pets on Wheels? 💙
One of my proudest accomplishments has been finding my way back to the organization and continuing to grow into leadership roles. Becoming a regional coordinator allowed me to support volunteers, build facility partnerships, and strengthen teams. Serving now as Program Manager has been one of the most rewarding opportunities of all because it allows me to help strengthen connections across the entire Pets on Wheels community.
What are your top priorities in this new role?
My top priorities are supporting and retaining our volunteers, strengthening relationships with the facilities we serve, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of Pets on Wheels. I want our pet teams to feel valued, supported, and confident in the important work they do.
What did you do before joining Pets on Wheels?
Before retiring, I worked in healthcare human resources, focusing on training and organizational development.
Have animals always been part of your life?
Absolutely. I grew up with dogs, birds, cats, and even gerbils. Animals have always been an important part of my life, and volunteer work has as well.
Tell us about your pets! 🐶
I currently have two Labrador retriever rescues: Maple, age five, and Ace, age two. Maple has been serving as a therapy dog for several years and truly loves the work. Ace is still learning, but hopefully he’ll be following in her paw prints soon.
Coffee or tea? ☕
Coffee—always.
Early bird or night owl? ⏱️
A combination of both, depending on what’s needed.
Favorite way to unwind?
Spending quiet time with my dogs, family, and friends.
